All Ages

It is the experience within EDYN that there is a growing demand by adults and seniors to participate in voluntary services and thereby contribute to a European society, active and learning at all ages, promoting an intergenerational and intercultural dialogue.
Just as the European Commission states in its document “Grundtvig Senior Volunteering Projects – Tips and resources for a good project” that voluntary services are “a very valuable informal learning experience for people of all ages”, volunteers are expected to considerably improve their social, intercultural, civic competences and language skills. Following a long-term approach, we believe that gaining such insight into another culture and the subsequent learning experience is only possible in a long term stay of or beyond half a year.  Volunteers bring their full-time commitment into different areas of social work and contribute with their perspectives working alongside the staff. Thus, they allow a mutual learning process within their placements as well as in their host community. Exemplifying solidarity with marginalised people in Europe. The volunteers’ own learning process is enhanced by seminars offered by sending and hosting organisations.
